PRESENTER Dr. Michael Fullan is professor emeritus of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto. He currently serves as Special Advisor to the Premier and Minister of Education in Ontario. Recognized as a worldwide authority on organizational change, he is engaged in training, consulting, and evaluating change projects around the world. His work also includes helping several provinces in Canada and several states in the United States in applying policies and strategies in order to increase the learning and achievement of all students.

Dr. Fullan is a prolific author and his books have been translated into many languages. His writing both informs education reform work and derives knowledge from these experiences. It is this close relationship between theory and practice that has made his books highly popular with education leaders. His most recent books are the Six Secrets of Change: What the Best Leaders Do to Help Their Organization Survive and Thrive and Breakthrough, Turnaround Leadership

TOPIC Using the research, examples and implementation strategies cited in his latest book on change, Fullan will share what he has learned from effective change leaders on how to “move” individuals, institutions, and whole systems forward. Spiraling from practice to theory and back again, this workshop will focus on examples from Fullan’s global experiences to help educators:
    * Understand problems and work with change

    * Mobilize peers to collaborate

    * Specialize in capacity building

    * Promote learning as the work of individuals and organizations

    * Make progress and performance results transparent

    * Earn trust by demonstrating integrity and competence

    * Enable others to become motion leaders

BOOK Dr. Fullan's most recent book, Motion Leadership, Corwin Press, Nov. 2009, may be purchased in advance for pick- up at the workshop
